Where will IPOPI delegates stay?

Liege, Belgium. Van der Valk Hotel Liège Congrès.

Congress Venue

Maastricht, Netherlands. MECC Forum.
We strongly encourage you to stay at the IPOPI Hotel as the group, making the most of this opportunity to meet fellow delegates, share experiences, and build meaningful connections!

🪪 VISA

Belgium and the Netherlands are both within the Schengen area, so there is no border control when traveling between these countries for the meeting. For participants who need a VISA, we will provide an invitation letter to support their application. If you require a VISA invitation letter, please send an email to mercedes@ipopi.org

✈️ Flights

Important Travel Considerations:
  • The meeting venue is in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
  • The IPOPI delegation will stay at the Van der Valk Hotel Liège Congrès in Liège, Belgium.
  • Delegates are strongly encouraged to stay at the IPOPI hotel to connect and network.
  • IPOPI will provide bus transportation between the hotel and the venue (approx. 30 minutes).
  • IPOPI will not cover extra transportation if the bus is missed.
 
Important timings to consider:
On Wednesday, October 14, the bus will depart from the hotel in Liège at approximately 11:00, the meeting will end on Friday at about 16:30, followed by a social activity in Maastricht lasting until 19:00. Afterward, IPOPI will provide a final bus back to Liège.

 

Recommended option for travel:

BRU – Brussels - Zaventem, Belgium Airport.

We recommend arriving at this airport as your first option, as it is the closest to IPOPI’s hotel. Upon arrival in Zaventem, you will need to take the train (the station is located within the airport) to Liège, stopping at Liège-Guillemins station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

🚆Trains

From Brussels Airport: Zaventem

If you arrive at Zaventem Airport, you can take a direct train from the airport (level -1) to Liège. Please purchase a return (2nd class) ticket from Brussels Airport–Zaventem to Liège-Guillemins, selecting both your arrival and departure dates.

Be sure to purchase your tickets through the official website.

*Please note that train tickets are normally available for purchase up to one month in advance.

Important: Direct trains run approximately once per hour between 04:00 and 23:00. Please take this into account when planning your arrival and departure flights. The journey between Liège and Brussels Airport takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

 

Other options for travel:

1. AMS – Amsterdam, The Netherlands Airport.

If you arrive at Schiphol airport, you will need to take a train to either Rotterdam or Brussels, then transfer to another train to Liège. The total journey takes approximately 2.5 hours.

2. DUS – Düsseldorf, Germany Airport.

If you arrive at Düsseldorf Airport, you will need to use a combination of regional and international trains. First, take a regional train to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof (main station), then transfer to a train bound for Liège-Guillemins. The total journey takes approximately 2 hours.
